It’s about keeping the business on the right track

Operations is all about keeping the dealership running smoothly. Depending on the size of the business, your career in operations could see you doing anything from running the office to running the branch. This includes administration, marketing, strategic planning, business development, accounts and more.

Meet Kylie - Operations Manager

I looked at this as being the best next step I could have in my career. A well-known brand, respected, in an exciting industry.

With four elements to the organisation it’s like working for four different businesses and that's what I like the most. It keeps you on your toes, always dealing with interesting challenges in a great environment.

"I like the dedication here to doing things well. We all are behind the Customer First training and approach".

We have a kaizen team, and they meet to look at how we do everything, and how we can make anything and everything better. Quite a cool way to look at your workplace, starting from proven best practice and getting to where we need to be.

There are definitely lots of opportunities, with training at different levels that will really step you through your career path. I've been here seven years now and I'm loving it more all the time.

Is Operations for me?

Where can a career in operations take me?

Being in an operational role gives you an overview of the business as a whole and the ability to connect with all departments. You’ll get an understanding of, and contribute to what’s required to make the business successful. If you’re keen to be involved in strategy, finance and leading people and you’ve grasped the concept of how a Toyota franchise operation works, you could progress to Branch Manager and then ultimately CEO.

What kind of people do you look for?

Having a financial background and some accounting experience definitely helps.  Being able to read and understand financial reports will be highly valuable to help identify areas of strength and weakness of a department.

Do I need experience?

Working in a dealership or another fast-paced business would be a big help. If you’ve got what it takes though, we’ll help you understand our business and get up to speed.
